Talking Tees with Bozana Vukovic

A few weeks ago, I shared a little inspiration post on the lovely Boz+Love label. They make super soft (& stylish!) tees and totes, while keeping ethical and eco considerations in mind.

This is a label on the rise and in fact, they will be making their debut at the Finders Keepers Market this summer, which is being held on 6-7 December. You can find out more about that here.

In the meantime, I caught up with founder Bozana Vukovic, aka Boz, to find out more about how this buttery tee line was born!

How did the idea for the Boz+ Love label come about?

The idea for my label came about from my desire for the perfect tee that communicated to the world, a message of substance. I love cute tees with words, but I couldn’t find any that communicated a message that had meaning to me. That’s when I realised I had an opportunity to create a unique label all about bespoke designs, with inspirational words.

What is your label all about and who do you design for?

My label is all about remembering to love, smile and be in the moment. It’s based on a pure philosophy of creating messages of substance to remind us of the important things in life. I design for every free-spirited woman who is looking for something unique and enduring.

Your label seems to encompass an eco and ethical philosophy. Why was that important to you?

I’m very conscious of creating pieces that you don’t just wear for one season and throw out the next. I think more and more people are realising the importance of buying ethically and sustainably. I personally like to buy items that have been made ethically and are environmentally friendly and I know I’m not the only one! That’s why it was important for me to create a label that encompassed aspects of ethical and eco design and process, such as toxic free and minimal waste printing and fabric, made from sustainably farmed eucalyptus wood pulp.

Have you found that’s a big factor in why people love your products?

Yes. I think more and more people want to know the story behind the garments they purchase. We are realising the connection we have to everything around us and how interconnected we are to each other and our planet. I think once you realise this, you become much more conscious of what impact your actions have, including the clothes you decide to buy.

What would you say are the biggest myths about ethical and eco friendly fashion?

That ethical and eco fashion will always be a niche market, since only a small group of people care about whether their clothes are ethically made and are eco friendly. I think the main problem is, people simply don’t have enough information at the point of purchase to determine whether the clothes they buy are ethical and eco. Style and price will of course always play a major role but that doesn’t mean that eco and ethical is not relevant to the masses.

What are your top 3 Boz + Love picks for summer?

That’s a hard one! Our tees are so incredibly soft and luxurious to wear, so I would say any BOZ + LOVE tee, worn with a pair of cute shorts and sandals.
